Gallatin Avenue Clean-up A Success! The Gallatin Avenue Neighborhood Clean-up held on May 15th was a huge success with over 30 people in attendance. The event, sponsored by the Gallatin Avenue Concerned Citizens Association (GACCA), not only allowed neighborhood residents to discard large items that they typically do not put out for the trash, but also resulted in cleaner sidewalks and lots because the volunteers went around and picked up trash. “We really want to thank everyone that came out and made this event such a great success. It not only resulted in a cleaner neighborhood, but also gave people a chance to help one another and to talk to their neighbor” said Chris Jones, President of GACCA. Veolia Environmental Services donated the use of 3 dumpsters and paid for the tipping fees, the City of Uniontown, donated the use of its backhoe/front end loader, and its operator (Mayor Fike!), Subway restaurants donated the lunch for the event thanks to Regional Manager Isaac Adams and Store Manager Antoinette Chester, the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Uniontown donated breakfast and the use of clean-up tools, Uniontown Lowe’s Home Improvement store donated 35 pairs of gloves for the volunteers, Kevin Sweeney of Sweeney Rehab and Fitness brought a tractor and lawn mower and cut some overgrown lots, and Boy Scout Troop 111, and Cub Scout Pack 623 very generously recruited several of their members and their parents to participate. Once again thank you to all that participated: If you participated and are not listed above please contact us at (724) 438-4287 lmstreet@uniontownredevelopment.com.
