With the chants of "Drop that Pumpkin" coming from 100 feet below, Larry Vilk, President of the Gallatin Avenue Concerned Citizens Association, and Fireman Mike Deems dropped a 100 pound pumpkin from the bucket of the Uniontown Fire Department ladder truck onto the roof of the junk car below. The resulting splatter caused cheers and laughter to erupt from the crowd and served as the finale of the the 3rd annual Gallatin Avenue Pumpkin Festival held on Gallatin Avenue on Saturday, October 15, 2011, from noon until 4 PM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The event also featured food, from Nowhere Dogs and Carlo's Pizza, music, from DJ Arnie Amber, a caricature artist, a car show, children's activities including pumpkin decorating, a moon bounce, and a Punt Pass and Kick competition, tours of the new Maple Garden Apartments, a K9 dog demonstration by the Uniontown Police Department, and of course the pumpkin drop by the Uniontown Fire Department.

For their $5 registration, car show participants each received a 6-pack pop cooler and were eligible to win door prizes.

The event was sponsored by the Gallatin Avenue Concerned Citizens Association in conjunction with the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Uniontown and was made possible thanks to donations by the Keith Charles Second Opinion Insurance Agency, the Community Foundation of Fayette County, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Fayette County Community Action Agency, Realtor Buffy S. Anderson, K2 Engineering, Mary Lou Resko, Thomas M. Dolfi Funeral Home, Fayette Furnace Company, Elias Sail's Inn, Beck's Wrecks, Mitchell's Plumbing, Ms. Mary Lou Resko, Becks Wrecks, Joby's Gulf, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the City of Uniontown, and the Uniontown Elm Street and Weed & Seed Programs.

We hope to see you at next year!
